In 2003, the European Union Commission issued directive 2002/95/EC which outlined the
policies for “the Restriction on the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic
Equipment,” or RoHS, legislation. The directive will take effect on July 1, 2006.

PMD has implemented an aggressive schedule that will bring most of our parts to
RoHS compliancy well before the European Union Commission deadline of July 1,
2006.
