Performance Motion Devices, Inc.‘s (PMD) Navigator™ motion control chipset has been designed into a new advanced motion controller POSYS™ 7xx for brushed/brushless servo or stepper motors by Intelligent Motion Control, Ltd., LLC (IMC). This ISA-Bus motion control card is available in 1, 2 or 4 axes configurations. Additional cards can be added to achieve higher axes configurations or to allow mixed servo/stepper usage. The POSYS board generates either a 16-bit ±10V analog or 10-bit/20 kHz PWM signal for servo motors or a pulse and direction signal up to 5 MHz for precise control of stepper motors.
PMD‘s multi-axis Navigator chipset, which provides the motion control for the board, offers an advanced PID filter with feedforward velocity, acceleration, bias offset and 32-bit position error. Richard J. Sullivan, CEO of PMD, comments, "this combination of products -- PMDís chip-based motion control expertise coupled with IMC‘s board-based products -- provides a powerful multi-axis motion control product."
The POSYS has 256KB of onboard memory, providing enough space for large profile sequences up to 10 minutes. When it is used with PMD‘s new PathfinderTM Contouring Software Library for linear/circular interpolation, the host will be relieved from low-level calculation tasks. The POSYS 7xx is available now in commercial and industrial temperature versions.
