Introducing a breakthrough motion control drive from Performance Motion Devices: the ION®/CME N-Series Digital Drive. If your project requires a smaller controller that results in decreased design time, improved performance, and lower costs, then this is just the drive you’re looking for.
Demand more from your controllers.
The ION®/CME N-Series Digital Drive is tiny but mighty, allowing you to build more powerful controllers, more conveniently, in tighter spaces that were previously difficult to manage. This is a single-axis, single voltage input, user-programmable controller that can drive Brushless DC, DC Brush, and step motors. Its rugged package focuses not only on the electronics inside but on how easily it will mount to your application. Just design an interconnect board and hit the ground running.
Harness breakthrough motion control features.
The ultra-efficient digital switching amplifier of this motion control drive has you covered on various power levels: 75W, 350W, and 1000W. On top of this, you’ll have access to field oriented control, space vector modulation, over & undervoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature protection. The inclusion of both primary and auxiliary encoder channels allows for the use of the quadrature encoder signal format. Additionally, support is provided for BiSS-C, SSI, and sin/cos.

Optimize for lab automation, medical devices, mobile robotics, and beyond.
Let’s take a look at how the ION®/CME N-Series Digital Drive can be applied to various projects, from robotic arm controllers, to centrifuge controllers, to gantry controllers, to syringe array controllers. Designing an interconnect board is simple. They’re small, and only require up to four layers. Once you’re done, just add your connectors and install your N-Series.
The ION®/CME N-Series can function as a single axis robotic arm controller, capable of outputting 56 volts and 10 amps to a Brushless DC motor. This centrifuge controller is also single axis, outputting 48 volts and 15 amps to another Brushless DC motor with FOC control at 40,000 RPM.
Three tabless N-Series models could operate the X, Y, and Z axis of this gantry controller, outputting 36 volts and 10 amps to both step and Brushless DC motors, communicating through an ethernet host. Lastly, this syringe array controller uses eight motion control drives to power eight step motors, communicating through a CAN port command interface.
Get to market fast. Reduce cost later.
Controller designs could take at least 50 months of combined labor to develop from scratch. If you require a faster time to market with lower risk, PMD modules like the ION®/CME N-Series can reduce that same project timeline down to 10-16 months. Our modules also speak C-Motion®, the same language spoken by our ICs, so re-engineering for cost later on has never been easier. We help guarantee your success in the long run.
